From my upcoming show at Nanda Hobbs titled “Indoctrinated”. The show explores the imperfect recall of memory and how we are conditioned by early childhood experiences. I am using elements of photographic techniques such as light leaks and lenses flares to illustrate nostalgia and the recollection of important moments in life that often have an emotional intensity.

“Indoctrinated” is the name of my upcoming sol

“Indoctrinated” is the name of my upcoming solo show which opens at Nanda and Hobbs in Sydney on the 13th May. It explores different aspects of my childhood growing up in Communist East Berlin from Civil Defence Education in primary school, extreme militarisation of everyday life, censorship, marching songs for children, the ever present Secret police to holidays in government run holiday homes. It is a very personal show with imagery taken from family photo albums, historical images and re-enactments warped into semi abstraction. I cannot wait to share this body of work with you.
