🌟 At 5.4m, “Ode to Feminism” is one of the largest works I’ve ever created. Painted in 2018, it now resides in the esteemed Bennett Collection of Stephen Bennett and Dr. Elaine Schmidt. Exhibited in Sydney and later in Chicago at the @zhoubartcenter, this piece continues to influence my practice. This exhibition has seen 70,000 visitors so far and will be open until July 14. Touching stories from children of War, in my case growing up during the Cold War with all its propaganda machinery. The exhibition includes paintings and artefacts from my childhood. Always an emotional experience visiting the Shrine.

In this painting, Longhurst places her female subject against the backdrop of an emotionally charged word ‘Alpha’. She presents her female subjects as strong and dominant entities, and pushes them to the forefront of the canvas.

Collection 100:New is on display until Sun 9 June.
